Abbotsford Soccer Association is delighted to launch an Adaptive Program that will allow children and youth (U6-U14) the opportunity to learn and experience soccer in a barrier-free environment.

Who should register? Neurodiverse players with mobility impairments, sensory processing issues, communication difficulties, developmental delays, and other diverse abilities that may be challenging to participate in traditional programs.

Staff coaches and volunteers will focus on creating opportunities for meaningful participation rather than competition.

Curriculum is based on the following building blocks:

  1. Introduction – working on fundamental motor skills.
  2. Fun games to get everyone involved with a soccer ball.
  3. Technical Skills.
  4. Shooting.
  5. Socialization Building / Development.

Parents are asked to remain present during sessions. Parents will have the opportunity to network with other families. Parents are not asked to participate, just remain within proximity.

What to bring:

SPECIAL NOTE: This program is adapted for children with physical impairments, ADHD, FASD, OCD, Autism, Downs Syndrome, and other cognitive and sensory challenges. The Adaptive Program is open to participants that would not otherwise be comfortable in a traditional soccer program setting due to a variety of diverse abilities.
