U14–U18 Divisional Team Selects Program

The U14–U18 Divisional Team Select Program is designed to place players in an environment that matches their current stage of development, ensuring appropriate challenge and growth opportunities.

Player Placement & Evaluation
Players are assigned to teams based on demonstrated skill level, game understanding, and overall readiness. While formal evaluation sessions may be conducted periodically, player assessment is continuous throughout the season. This ongoing evaluation model ensures that development pathways remain flexible and responsive to individual progress.

Training Structure

  • Teams train three times per week in a structured, high-performance environment.
  • Training sessions are designed to be purposeful, engaging, and aligned with long-term player development principles.
  • Each session is planned to maximize technical repetition, tactical understanding, and decision-making under pressure.

Coaching Model

  • Teams are typically led by parent-volunteer coaches, supported by the club’s technical framework.
  • Where a volunteer coach is not available, teams may request a staff coach, subject to availability and recruitment.
  • The appointment of a staff coach may result in an additional coaching fee, shared among team participants.

Performance Academy Alignment
The ASA Divisional Team Select Program now includes the Performance Academy providing a clear development pathway focused on helping players reach their full potential.

Key components of the performance Academy (third session) components include:

    • Advanced Technical & Tactical Training: Delivery of age-appropriate, high-level instruction using modern, evidence-based methodologies.
    • Physical Development: Structured programming to enhance strength, speed, agility, and injury prevention.
    • Individual Player Development: Ongoing assessment supported by detailed feedback and adaptation of training objectives.

Returning players are welcome to order new/replacement items if they so choose. If replacing a Jersey, returning players must order the same jersey # as previously issued (unless otherwise arranged with team coach), by contacting ASA Equipment Manager – equipment@abotsfordsoccer.com
