Boys & Girls program

Sept 11 – Mar 16/17    (No Session Oct 7/8/9 + Feb 18/19/20)

Skill Centre is a Canada Soccer recommended development model for competitive and aspiring players within the U8-U12 age groups, however, since the announcement of change (from BC Soccer) for 2011 birth year to play 9v9 formats, we at ASA have extended our Skill Centre program to now include the U13 (2011) age group, and therefore continue to assist in the development and transition of the players to full-field (11v11 format) at U14.

Based on a player’s age group, the ASA Skill Centre has two distinct registration programs:

1. U8-U10 (2014-2016) – Skill Centre Training Program

Within the U8-U10 age groups, various groupings can occur, at the discretion of the coaching staff, which will allow for all facets of development (Tech/Tac/Psycho-social) to flourish.

2. U11-U13 (2011-2013) – Skill Centre Team Program

Within the U11-U13 age groups, teams are formed and placed at an appropriate level of competition within the BC Coastal Soccer League (BCCSL). Typically, the competitive level is Div1 or Div2, which will provide for a wide travel opportunity across the lower mainland. For less competitive players/teams (Div3), we typically place these teams in a FV District-based league, with reduced travel requirements. Training will be arranged to allow for combined sessions between teams of a similar standing and/or age group. Player movement between teams is a possibility throughout the season, based on individual player progress and development needs. This process is overseen by club’s technical lead staff coaches, and in consultation with the appointed team head coach and family involved.

Players attending the Skill Centre will benefit from a vastly experienced and nationally accredited lead coaching staff who provide a variety of training and game experiences. The ASA Skill Centre staff include.

Boys & Girls – Mon 5:15pm-6:15pm MRC #2
Boys & Girls – Wed   5:15pm – 6:15pm  MRC #2

In-Club Game Days
Boys – Sat   9:00am – 10:15am   MRC #4
Girls – Sun 1:00pm – 2:15pm    MRC#3

Festivals
In addition to the in -club game days, we will also be working with our FV Alliance partner clubs to explore monthly Festival programming – details TBC.

Skill Centre Team Program (U11-U13)

Training Schedule U11-U13 (2011-2013)
Boys – Mon & Wed’s Typically U11/U12 5:30-6:45pm & U13 6:45-8pm at various locations.
Girls – Tues & Thurs Typically U11/U12 5:30-6:45pm & U13 6:45-8pm at various locations.

Game Day’s
Boys – Sat.  various times/locations depending on League schedule.
Girls – Sun. various times/locations depending on League schedule.

 Uniform & Equipment
All players will be provided with a club jersey, shorts & socks.

• Training program – Jersey with Skill Centre across shoulders.
• Team program – Jersey with number on back.

All players must have their own soccer cleats, shin pads. A comfortable jacket/outer wear is recommended for cold/wet weather. Each player should also have a water bottle available during sessions.

Coaching Credits – Training Program
Parent volunteer coaches wishing to assist within the Training program will be paired with a lead staff coach. Parents will receive mentorship and certification support with the specific goal of becoming a head coach, as players graduate to the team program.  For players graduating into a new program or for those who choose to transfer to a different program, any differential in the program fees will be payable (including any new kit requirements). No cash credits are applicable if a player drops to lower level of programming. If multiple parent-volunteers are assigned to the same team, the one registration credit will be divided equally.
