COVID -19 UPDATE for the Abbotsford Soccer Association
March 31, 2020
We appreciate your patience during these difficult times.
While we all want to return to the pitch, our focus should now be on every individual doing their part to ensure this virus is contained. At the Abbotsford Soccer Association, we continue to take our lead from the Public Health people, BC Soccer, and the Canadian Soccer Association. Little has changed in the soccer world with all sanctioned soccer activities being suspended for the time being.
A small glimmer of hope is emerging as the hard work and dedication of our health care workers, first responders, and the cooperation of us all may now be helping to flatten the curve here in BC. Time will tell. It is now, more than ever, critical that we all continue to adhere to the physical distancing expectations outlined by our government.
We continue to hope that our Spring programming will happen, albeit most likely in an abbreviated form. Again, we await more direction from our parent associations and, of course, the government. BC Soccer did send out a survey to all member clubs asking for input regarding preparations for spring programs and how they might look should we be able to hit the fields later in the Spring. We expect to hear something from them soon regarding the results of that survey and how those results may impact any direction from the provincial body.
Again, many thanks for your cooperation and patience as we navigate these uncharted waters. Please do not hesitate to connect with us if you have any questions. While there may soon be light at the end of this tunnel, we do need to continue to ensure everyone’s safety.
Given Dr. Henry’s update today, we do expect to get a definitive timeline from our governing bodies soon. Once we have heard from them, we will update you once again.
