The BC Soccer Association mandates all U11 and U12 teams play the Super
8 format. Compared to the full-size game at U13, Super 8’s:
-
Field 8 players per side on a smaller field (1 goalkeeper and 7
field players):
è
develops touch and ball
control skills
-
Smaller goals (18 feet wide and 6 feet high):
è
proportionate to size,
develops goalkeepers
-
Modified offside rule: a player can only be offside in the attacking
third of the field:
è
promotes attacking play
and still prevents “goal sucking”
More information on small-sided games and the U11 & U12 playing rules
can be found on the BCSA website in the
Grassroots Development area.
Districts
At U11& U12 boys and girls teams become part of the district that determines
league play. These districts are the Central Fraser Valley District for
Girls and the Fraser Valley Soccer Association for Boys. Our fees are
collected by the district; they are
the link between the Abbotsford Soccer Association and the British
Columbia Soccer Association. The BCSA is registered with the Canadian
Soccer Association, who is affiliated to FIFA.
Information about the districts is at
www.bcsoccercentral.com.
