 The
U17 Abbotsford Mariner Girls captured their 2nd consecutive Provincial A
Cup title on Sunday defeating Surrey Nitro 2 to 1 in Prince George.
Playing with many bumps and bruises the U17 girls opened the scoring on
a nice finish by Rebecca VanGinkel from the top of the 18 when Caitlin
Blondin made a long cross from the right side of the field. Danielle
Schmidt scored early in the 2nd half on a set play from the 25 on a
perfect shot to the top left corner. The Nitro scored their lone goal in
injury time.
This is Bill Broadfoots 5 Provincial title with the ASA and Scott
Sheldons second title with this group of players.
