Many thanks to those attending the February 17th Town
Hall Meeting at Terry Fox Elementary School. I sincerely hope that all
in attendance found the evening to be informative and worthwhile. This
was our second annual Town Hall Meeting and I’ve found both sessions to
be of great value, hopefully for everyone involved.
A wide variety of topics were covered and discussed, allowing everyone
to share thoughts, concerns, and possible solutions to issues facing our
organization. The topics brought up at the meeting included coaching
opportunities, coaching clinics, team placement in league play,
philosophy of our Wee Kickers program, opportunities for players, the
need for volunteers, and general directions for the future of our club.
We had about 50 people in attendance, and following presentations from
Barry Crocker and Colin Miller, discussions ensued on the topics listed
above. It was refreshing to see open and frank deliberation on these
important issues as all involved seemed focused on making things work
for the good of our club. It also became apparent that the vastness of
our association, the determination to meet the needs of all players, and
the variety of expectations will require all of us to continue to have
open and honest dialogue in an effort to meet the needs of our target
group: the kids.
Over the weeks to come, I’ll take some of the general issues that came
up and address the questions or comments expressed. Please continue to
send in your questions, comments, and potential solutions to me at
president@abbotsfordsoccer.com and I will endeavour to find
the answers. I would love to see our club continue to grow and prosper,
both in numbers and in the development of our players. We all know there
will be growing pains as we work to meet the needs of all. In order to
find solutions, we need to hear from you and work with you to find these
solutions.
Yours in Soccer,
Dan Village
