 This
is the opportunity of a lifetime for Colin and the Abbotsford Soccer
Association as we are the first youth club in North America to have
their Head Coach recruited by the English Premier League club.
Colin Miller joined the ASA in February 2000 after his career as a
player with the Toronto Blizzard of the now defunct North American
Soccer
League, Glasgow Rangers of the Scottish Premier League and spells at
Doncaster Rovers, St Johnstone, Hamilton Academical, Heart of
Midlothian, Dunfermline Athletic, Ayr United and a time as a
player-manager at Hamilton.
Mr. Miller’s hard work over the past seven years with the ASA has built
the ASA into one of the best and most respected Clubs in Canada as well
as being well known throughout the United States through the Premier
Development League with the Abbotsford Rangers and Super Y-League with
the Abbotsford Mariners.
The departure of Mr. Miller is a sad day for the ASA but with every end
there is a new beginning and the ASA will now start the search for a new
Head Coach and we will continue to build on the solid foundation Colin
Miller has left us with and continue to move this club forward.
It is a great honour for all of us at the ASA to have had the chance to
get to know Colin Miller over the last seven years and we know he will
work very hard along with Billy Davies and Craig Brown to make Derby
County FC a success in the Premiership.
There are countless opportunities that our Club may now take advantage
of having our former Head Coach coaching in the English Premier League
with Derby County FC and this will surely help us with our search for a
new Head Coach which now begins.
All of the ASA Executive, Players, Coaches and Parents would like to
thank Colin for his dedication and work ethic that he has given to all
of us here at the ASA and we all wish him and Derby County FC the best
in the years to come.
We look forward even more now to those early Saturday morning
Premiership Games on Rogers Sportsnet.
