The U16 Abbotsford Mariners played PEI this morning and came away with a disappointing win 4-1. Part of the disappointment was the fact that the good second half play in Weds game vs. New Brunswick did not materialize for today’s game vs. a much weaker PEI squad. In order to qualify for the medal round it now appears that the Mariners will have to defeat the strong Alberta side on Friday as the current goal differential (goals for and against) may not be enough to secure a wild card spot for the Mariners in the medal round. The top team in each of the three pools advances to the medal round and the next team with the most points and/or goal differential will be the 4th team in the medal round. The goal scorers for Abbotsford were Lisa Fadden (2), Abbye Dahl and Nicole Yakashiro.

The team will look to regroup with a team meeting scheduled for later this afternoon with a goal to bring back some of the magic which won them a Provincial Championship in July.
